RoomTone is a free website. Using it means you accept these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

The service

classroomnoise.live provides a browser-based classroom noise monitor and related teacher guides. The live tool reads relative microphone loudness on your device after you press Start and grant permission. It is offered without an account and without a fee for the classroom features described on the site.

Not a calibrated instrument

Readings are relative to the device, browser, placement, and room. They are not certified sound pressure levels. Do not use RoomTone to make hearing-safety, occupational-exposure, regulatory, or medical decisions. Do not represent a RoomTone number as a laboratory measurement.

Classroom responsibility

You are responsible for how you use the display with students: whether a visual cue is appropriate, whether an optional chime should stay off, and whether the tool should be paused. RoomTone does not supervise children, does not replace professional judgment, and does not create an IEP or behavior record.

Acceptable use

• Do not attempt to record, intercept, or upload classroom audio through this site. The product is not built to do that, and you may not try to make it do that.
• Do not use the site to target, shame, or profile a student.
• Do not attack, scrape in a way that degrades the service, or impersonate the operator.
• Do not wrap the pages in a system that conceals these terms or the privacy policy.

Accounts and content

The monitor does not offer user accounts. Guides, comparisons, and other text on this site are provided for classroom information. They are not legal, medical, or architectural advice. We may change or remove pages as the tool changes.

Intellectual property

The RoomTone name, site design, original game art, and original writing belong to the site operator unless a credit says otherwise. You may link to the site and use it in a classroom. You may not copy the games or guides and present them as your own product.

Advertisements

Content pages may show third-party ads, including Google AdSense. Ads are not endorsements. The privacy policy explains cookies and identifiers used for advertising.

Disclaimer of warranties

The site is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular school’s policies. Browser, device, and network conditions are outside our control.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for decisions you make based on a relative noise display. Some places do not allow certain limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the maximum permitted.

Privacy

The privacy policy is part of how the site works. It describes microphone processing, cookies, analytics, and advertising.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change. Continued use after an update is acceptance of the revised terms.
